HgCapital Trust plc, which was established in 1989, is an investment trust listed on the London Stock Exchange.
HgCapital was appointed investment manager in 1994 and concentrates on mid-market buyouts with enterprise values of between £50m and £500m. HgCapital Trust, through minority participation in all HgCapital's investments, provides exposure to a diversified portfolio of private equity investments with a geographic focus in the UK, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, the Nordic Region and Benelux.
HgCapital’s dedicated sector buyout teams provide investors with exposure to the substantial majority of private equity activity in HgCapital’s target deal sizes and geographies. The buyout sector teams (Healthcare, Industrials, Technology & Media, and Services) seek to exhibit domain knowledge and expertise of a strategic buyer with the flexibility of a financial buyer.
HgCapital also employs a team whose focus is entirely devoted to the development of renewable energy infrastructure across Europe. The team has so far been successful in building a number of energy platforms in the UK, Scandinavia and Spain.
In April 2010 £50 million was raised through a placing of new ordinary shares with subscription shares attached to these new and existing ordinary shares. The shares trade under the following ticker codes:
